I purchased two of these bottles for my tent and some clothes.

Does it work? Hard to say. Seems to. I went on two trips this year and had no issues with bugs, but then again, neither did most of my friends. So it’s hard to be sure exactly how effective this was. There were lots of bugs, so I can only guess that this must have worked fairly well.

The big care point is to have good disposable waterproof gloves when you use this product, and to do it in the morning on a sunny day if at all possible. The mist is very fine, and there’s so much warning about good ventilation that I fear if you have to leave it out all day in a well ventilated area or outdoors on a non-windy day, best to do it early in the morning so it mostly dries by sundown.

The gloves are really key. I used latex gloves and the mechanical and forceful motion of pumping that bottle cause me to rip two pairs of those cheap latex kitchen gloves. So get a thicker set if you can, or use rubber gloves and just wash them very carefully.

All in all, I think this was a good investment, but it does take a good deal of time to prepare your tents and clothing through this method. It might be easier to get regular bug spray and have lots of citronella, but if you plan on camping in high mosquito areas, this may be your only good option that avoids nets.

Camping season is coming up, so I plan to prep again with this once the weather gets a little warmer.
