We got up early and headed back to Cusco airport. It was a windy and chilly morning waiting outside the airport.

Latam opened their doors first, then Viva. But Sky’s agents were running late (or naturally started late, not sure). We were finally let in out of the cold, and waited around for the agents to start work while staring jealously at the other two airlines that had already staffed the checkin counter.

Nov 3 Thursday – 4 Friday – Travel to Punta Arenas

As much as this trip was about backpacking in Chilean Patagonia with a mini excursion in Peru, major part of the trip was about hustling thru many flights. The travel agency we used was from hell and it messed up the flight completely a week before departure. And this agency doesn’t have a phone number and their response to request for help was… “talk to airline directly”. So you can imagine, there was unusual amount of nervousness going to SFO to embark on the trip.

Patagonia et al, Intro

People all over the world get to travel extensively, going on adventures on a global scale, and lasting months out of each year.

For those of us in the US who work full time, backpacking adventures are usually limited to a couple of weeks at a time, so they often need to be meticulously planned.

The Patagonia trip was first planned among my friends and I for 2019, but life happened and it was delayed. After that, well, you know, Covid.

As 2022 drew near and the Pandemic’s worst fears gradually subsided, we re-planned for November 2022, and as luck would have it, this time, we were able to make it happen.

After months of planning, checking reviews and blogs, re-planning, and flight issues, we finally made our way to Punta Arenas to begin our journey.

And what a trip it was!
